NEW equipment + New Services!
In March 2025, Alloy moved into a new studio—twice the size of the previous space. The expansion allowed us to add a private workshop studio and an additional dedicated studio. Our shared studio also got a boost, gaining extra square footage and a fantastic city view right from the soldering bench. Since the move, we’ve been busy developing new programming to complement our upgraded equipment, with a special focus on casting.
LOST WAX CASTING
Beginning CAsting for jewelry
$425/ticket
This class comprehensively scratches the surface of the ancient lost wax casting process. In 3 sessions (9 hours total) you’ll get your hands on every step of the process, ending with melting down bronze (or silver) and pouring it into your first flask!
Class 1: Carve a simple signet ring from start to finish.
Between Classes: Practice carving and prepare extras for casting.
Class 2: Add sprues and create an investment mold.
Class 3: Cast your flask and learn finishing techniques and troubleshooting for cast objects.
Foundry Fridays - assisted
$55/flask fee
If you’ve taken Beginning Casting For Jewelry or completed our Alloy Investment Orientation, you’re in.
HOW it Works
Step 1: Book your investment appointment.
The process starts the first Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted). Choose a 15-minute investment slot between 10 AM – 1 PM — one appointment per flask.
Step 2: Prep your waxes before you arrive.
Before your appointment, have your waxes weighed and attached to the flask base so your flask is ready to invest when you arrive.
Step 3: Arrive and invest your flask.
Show up at your scheduled time and complete your investment. You’ll work independently, but our casting assistant will be nearby if you need a quick check. Once finished, your flask is added to the Friday casting lineup.
Step 4: Burnout overnight.
Your flask spends the night in the kiln — we’ll handle the burnout so it’s ready to pour the next day.
Step 5: Cast on Friday (1 PM – 2:30 PM).
Time to pour metal. Show up on time, stay for the session, and enjoy the best part of the process.
