bench membership

Bench membership may be the coolest of all of our membership options, because you get to utilize our awesome studio and have a built in support system of metalsmiths around you. Let’s take a tour of the two studios, discuss who is a good fit, and the differences between the two types of bench memberships we offer, shared & designated.

Shared studio - #625
membership cost - $95/month

This studio is where we teach all of our Private Lessons, Make & Take Workshops and DIY Wedding Band Workshops. When we’re not teaching, our “shared” members are able to use the space as their studio. They keep their hand tools in a locker, book time in the space, and clean up after themselves when they’re done. We only allow 3 members to book in any given period so that you can feel free to spread out a bit and won’t be waiting in line at the solder station. Click play below to step inside the studio and see all the awesome things it has to offer.

Due to the slightly dangerous nature of metalsmithing, bench memberships are limited and will need to be approved. If you’re a total beginner, you can become a member while you take private lessons or attend our ‘Beginning Metalsmithing for Jewelry’ class. Both options will give you the knowledge to safely work in the studio and starting your membership in tandem will give you somewhere to practice in between classes.

designated studio - #623
membership cost - $195/month

The designated studio is a beautiful space, filled with 5 benches, all of which are claimed by individual smiths. In this studio you still book your time, but you will never be interrupted when workshops are being taught or other members are scheduled. Each bench has 4 drawers for storage with a work light, flex shaft, tool shelf and adjustable chair. Additionally you get a design table and a locked cabinet on wheels. The designated studio also has their own soldering station and TONS of plants!

Currently, we don’t have any benches open. But, If you’re really wanting to get serious about metalsmithing and don’t want to build out a studio, this might be the perfect option for you. You’re welcome to book an in person tour as well to come see the space, request to be placed on the waitlist and ask any questions you might have!

Studio monitor hours

A couple times a week we offer studio monitor hours. This is a time that members can take advantage of having a helpful resource available in the studio. Scheduling time during studio monitor hours is valuable if you’re a little unsure of how to safely utilize some of our tools, want some design advice on a project your working on, or just want to be in the studio when other members are.

We recognize that bench membership is a commitment that not everyone is ready for. We offer our other memberships for just that reason. Explore other ways to join our community with the BLOG posts below that feature our social & maker memberships.
