Curious Objects – Extraordinary Characters

You’ve been invited to the most peculiar gala of the season.

The guest list is unlike any other—filled with fascinating figures from history, contemporary culture, and the pages of literature. Visionaries. Icons. Misfits. Dreamers. Rule-breakers. The brilliantly bizarre.

And you’ve been given a very special assignment:

Design an extraordinary piece of jewelry for one of them.

Your Challenge:

Create a high-fashion gala accessory designed for a specific historical, contemporary, or literary figure that incorporates at least one found object with a meaningful connection to your chosen figure.

Get imaginative, get weird, and create something worthy of the Court of Curiosity!

PLEASE SUBMIT THE FORM BELOW TO PARTICIPATE!

Once we receive your submission, we will reach out with project details. You can expect a thorough resource guide including ideas for inspiration, shopping resources, and the criteria for the project. Alloy will host one in person group design/work session, and send out weekly check in emails with ideas and inspiration!

Important Dates:

Challenge Release Date: September 7th

MIDPOINT MEETUP: October 15th

PROJECT DUE: November 14th

Final Exhibition: Early December

FALL CHALLENGE MEET UP - 10/15/26

Join us at the Alloy Studio to check in and share your Creative Challenge works in progress! This is a time to share your piece with other participants and give or receive feedback on your work so far and mostly cheering each other on!

We will not be getting HANDS on during this session, but we will be getting BRAINS on coming up with ideas for helping us finish those projects. So, bring your work in progress, sketches, books/resources and any other materials you think would be interesting and or helpful to the group or yourself!

There will be at least one instructor on hand to help guide to library resources and answer questions. Drinks provided!

11/14/26 - Share Party

6-7 pm — 7th floor Lobby

If you participated this season, please join us show off your AMAZING project at our casual celebration! Tables will be provided for displaying your piece, but please bring any other necessary display items.

Didn’t participate but want to come support your fellow members and see their amazing work?! Please come on by!

A few details:

  • If you wish to include your project for judging, you will be expected to leave your project with us for a short time after the conclusion of the event.

  • Winners of this seasons challenge will be selected and announced the following week.

  • At the share party, there will be a form for you to fill out details about your piece that will be shared during the party and at our Final Gallery Exhibition in December!

  • Speaking of the December Exhibition. If you wish to be included, hold onto those pieces until the event, leave them with us to store for you, or ensure that you can get it on loan from the forever owner.
